AWM is published by the African International Collaborative Center (AICC).
AICC is a multidisciplinary 501C3 tax exempt nonprofit organization established for the charitable purpose of promoting African heritage and ethnic pride, community health education, mental health, language access, civic engagement, culturally responsive programs, and services, serving as a hub of resource for the community we serve, empowering African immigrant women and youth for success and fostering collaborations with community and faith-based organizations, institutions, and policy makers to develop and implement culturally responsive programs to build stronger and healthier African immigrant families and communities.
Consequently, our mission is to empower African immigrant women and youth for success and to
build a stronger and healthier African immigrant families and communities.
We achieve this by:
- Organizing activities, events, and develop programs to build leadership and empower African women and youth for success, to promote African heritage, unity, and diversity, and for community health education, and mental health promotion.
- Conducting civic engagement activities (e.g., GOTV campaigns and voter education workshops and voter registration).
- Providing culturally responsive training.
- Collaborating with institutions, community, and faith-based organizations
- Mobilizing support to provide relief in times of need.
- Developing the knowledge base, practical skills, and linkages to serve as a hub of resource for African immigrant families and providing service connections
- Advocating for our shared perspective locally and creating awareness of the existing policies that are pertinent, and the elected officials that are working on matters that are relevant to African immigrant families and communities.
- Contributing to journals for publications on African matters.
- Engaging in any other activities considered under federal and state law to achieve the objectives of the Center.
